Blade Migration Conversion Support

The U.S. Census Bureau Information Technology Directorate, Information System Support and Review Office (ISSRO) established the Utility Computing Program Management Office (PMO) to provide oversight and control for an enterprise infrastructure migration to a blade server environment.

NetStar Systems has provided subject matter experts in the following areas: Red Hat, Sun and Novell systems engineering; SAS, Oracle and Cobol analysis and development; VMS software and systems engineering; Net and Java development; and VMWare and Xen virtualization architecture, engineering and system administration.

Based on NetStar’s successful implementation of the VMWare infrastructure, resolution of storage performance problems, and resultant power reductions and cost savings, the Census Bureau has significantly expanded the initial virtualization scope to include other program areas and offsite locations.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is the United States government’s principal agency for protecting the health of all Americans and providing essential human services, especially for those who are least able to help themselves.

HHS represents almost a quarter of all federal outlays, and it administers more grant dollars than all other federal agencies combined. HHS’ Medicare program is the nation’s largest health insurer, handling more than 1 billion claims per year. Medicare and Medicaid together provide health care insurance for one in four Americans.

HHS works closely with state and local governments, and many HHS-funded services are provided at the local level by state or county agencies, or through private sector grantees. The Department’s programs are administered by 11 operating divisions, including eight agencies in the U.S. Public Health Service and three human services agencies. Fed. Emergency Management Agency

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, or FEMA, is an agency of the United States Department of Homeland Security, initially created by Presidential Order on 1 April 1979. The primary purpose of FEMA is to coordinate the response to a disaster that has occurred in the United States and that overwhelms the resources of local and state authorities. The governor of the state in which the disaster occurs must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the president that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster.

Human Resource Services Administration

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services located in Rockville, Maryland. It is the primary Federal agency for improving access to health care services for people who are uninsured, isolated or medically vulnerable. Comprising six bureaus and 13 offices, HRSA provides leadership and financial support to health care providers in every state and U.S. territory. HRSA grantees provide health care to uninsured people, people living with HIV/AIDS, and pregnant women, mothers and children. They train health professionals and improve systems of care in rural communities.

US Department of Agriculture (USDA)

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of the Inspector General (OIG) performs support for highly classified operations of the US Government.

Historically a dedicated internal function, Checkpoint firewall is the first contract to bring outside professional services firms into the Agency to manage Agency firewall and network analysis.

NetStar Systems International, Inc. and the rest of the Firewall Checkpoint security team are responsible for network vulnerability testing, network analysis, and firewall security analysis. Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)

The Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) provides “one-stop shopping” for worldwide maritime intelligence customers, the joint war fighters, the Department of the Navy, and the maritime intelligence requirements of national agencies and departments. SeaLink is an ONI sponsored development and integration activity to improve fleet access to maritime intelligence.

NetStar has supported the ONI SeaLink knowledge management effort through implementation of NetStar’s eVKB (e-Portal Virtual Knowledge Base), a highly secure information delivery portal, and by providing expert management and technical support services.

eVKB meets the JWICS/SIPRNET ONI systems requirements by bringing disparate databases together under a single logon, directly supporting the indexing and fusing of critical Naval Intelligence information. The user presentation is a highly functional “baseball card” view, fusing ship imagery, characteristics, performance data, positional and GIS data.

Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)

The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) is a major producer and manager of military intelligence for the United States Department of Defense, employing over 16,500 military and civilian employees worldwide. The Defense Intelligence Community is headed by the DIA through its Director (who chairs the Military Intelligence Board) and coordinates the activities of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force intelligence components.

The Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts Documents Processing System (FDPS)

The Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts (FOIPA) Documents Processing System (FDPS) complies with the legal requirements for electronic processing of public requests for information to documents classified Secret or below. NetStar Systems International provides expert Oracle DBA support for the FOIPA/FDPS system. This DBA support includes database administration, database troubleshooting and prevention of database corruption. Support also entails providing technical guidance on future Oracle upgrades and setting up Oracle security and audit features.

The FDPS allows users to scan and import official FBI files, documents, correspondence, and process them electronically, track workload, and efficiently use subject matter expertise by streamlining the collaboration and review process associated with complex FOIA requests.
